Americans are less likely to die from heart disease now than forty years ago, but they’re more likely to be obese and on several medications, reports MedPage Today.

The 40th annual report on the health of the nation, entitled Health, United States, 2016, was delivered to the President and the US Congress by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Both the infant mortality rate and the age-adjusted heart disease death rate decreased by more than 60% from 1975 to 2015.

However, 38% of US adults over 20 are now obese (versus 23% in 1988-1994) and 40% of adults age 65+ used five or more prescription drugs in the last 30 days (up from 14%).
