The first Phase 1 clinical trial of two monoclonal antibodies to treat Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) found that they were well tolerated and generally safe when administered simultaneously to healthy adults.
After re-examining old data, Saudi Arabia announced a jump of nearly 50% in deaths from MERS coronavirus. The total confirmed cases of MERS since 2012 rose from 575 to 688 cases, and death toll rose from 190 to 282.
