RT Magazine will host a free webinar discussion on the effects that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will have on the Respiratory Care industry. The webinar will discuss topics such as the ACA’s emphasis on community-based care for chronic diseases like COPD, the impact of accountable care organizations, the potential impact of Medicare reimbursement reductions as a result of the ACA’s Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program, the role of RTs in ACA clinical implementation and hospital value-based purchasing (VBP), and other effects of the law.

Our roundtable’s four panelists come represent a diverse range of clinical backgrounds, including department management, critical care medicine, sleep medicine, and medical education, and they have close ties to a number of leading industry associations. Panelists will include:

  • M. Safwan Badr, MD | President, American Academy of Sleep Medicine; Division Chief for Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, Wayne State University
  • Scott Manaker, MD, PhD, FCCP | Associate Professor of Medicine, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
  • Michael Provencher, RRT, MPH | Manager Respiratory Care, Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine | Mercy Hospital
  • Craig Scanlan, EdD, RRT, FAARC | Professor Emeritus, Rutgers University, School of Health Related Professions (SHRP)

The discussion will be followed by a short question and answer session, using audience-submitted questions about respiratory care and the Affordable Care Act.

You can submit advanced questions to RT editor Mike Fratantoro at [email protected]. (Subject line: ACA Webinar)
