Vaping might start a bit later than cigarette smoking, reports MedPage Today.

While conventional cigarette smoking initiation peaks at age 14 to 15, the likelihood of initiating e-cigarette use continued to increase up to age 18 among those surveyed, Yan Wang, PhD, of the University of Florida in Gainesville, and colleagues reported.

Their analysis, now online in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, included data from the 2014 National Youth Tobacco Survey on 20,680 adolescents, who were between the ages of 11 and 19 (50.6% male, 43.3% white) when surveyed. Respondents who reported ever using e-cigarettes were asked how old they were when they first used the products.
