Hawaii is pushing forward legislation that would ban flavored e-cigarette and tobacco products in the state as part of efforts to curb youth vaping, smoking and nicotine addiction.

If passed, the bill would make Hawaii the first state to ban flavored tobacco, following US cities like San Francisco, Berkeley, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Providence, RI.

There are more than 15,000 flavors online, ranging from cotton candy to banana cream, according to data cited by health groups. Lawmakers say the packaging is deceptive and designed to look like Jolly Ranchers or Sour Patch Kids.
