A closer look at some of the latest airway management devices from Hollister, Neotech, and more.
The Hollister AnchorFast SlimFit oral endotracheal tube fastener provides a way to hold an oral endotracheal (ET) tube, ranging in size 5.0-8.0 mm, securely in place without the use of adhesive tape. The device is designed to accommodate smaller faces. (See image above.)
Neotech’s NeoBar ET Tube Holder features skin friendly hydrocolloid tabs designed to eliminate the use of potentially harmful tape on delicate neonatal skin. The NeoBar is designed to protect the palate, allow for better oral care, and reduce the occurrence of extubations. The eight color-coded sizes make unit selection easier.
Dale Medical Products Inc
Tracheostomy Tube Holders produced by Dale Medical Products Inc have a moisture wicking lining on the adjustable neckband to leave the skin dry, reducing the risk of skin breakdown. Secure and easy to use fastener tabs fit any size trach plate. The 2-piece adjustable neckband allows for convenient sizing for adults, bariatrics, infants and pediatrics.
Invented by a patient for patients, Passy Muir Ventilator and Tracheostomy Swallowing and Speaking Valves restore communication, improve swallowing and oxygenation, and expedite weaning and decannulation. Low profile, and lightweight, the PMV can be used on or off a ventilator. The device is latex free. Made in the United States.
International Biomedical offers the NeoScope Neonatal Video Intubation System, which enables video laryngoscopy for tracheal intubation on the most fragile patients. Disposable Miller blades in sizes #000, #00, #0 and #1 allow the NeoScope to be used for intubation of infants less than 1kg. The NeoScope captures digital video recording on an SD card.
B&B Medical Technologies
The B&B Bubbler water seal CPAP valve by B&B Medical Technologies is a method to deliver neonatal CPAP therapy. Adjustable from 1 to 10 cm H2O with clearly marked settings. Patented dual-chambered design allows fluid level to be observed without disrupting therapy. Internal, drainable overflow chamber limits fluid to desired CPAP level.
Maril Products Inc
The Maril Products Control III Disinfectant/Germicide is a multi-use, EPA registered surface and instrument disinfectant that is effective on a variety of bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens. It is cost effective, easy to use, bio-friendly and has a thirty year track record of applications in hospitals, clinics and home care.
NJR Medical Inc
NJR Medical offers the No-Bite V, which is designed to stop suction catheter induced nasal trauma. It’s a suction catheter introducer for the oral airway with flashlight tip. Voted A Best Practice Solution when nasal suctioning is contraindicated. Bite-Proof design allows patient to bite down on the device while a clinician can easily advance any suction catheter orally instead of nasally, to achieve subglottic suctioning.
The endOclear Liberator Airway Maintenance System, from Endoclear, is a modular system that allows suctioning of the patient’s ETT and airway, effective cleaning of the ETT, and access to the patient’s airway for bronchoscopy and/or bronchoalveolar lavage—all without disconnecting the patient from the ventilator and risking lung derecruitment and hypoxemia.
Sil.Flex TC Pads, made of medical grade silicone, are designed by Respiralogics for placement on trach tubes to cushion area between flange and stomal site. Early use assists in reducing irritation, tissue breakdown, preventing pressure injury and decreasing air leaks by improving seal. Sil.Flex TC Pad is available in two sizes, accommodating small infants through adults.
Intersurgical’s OroCare line includes toothbrushes with suctioning to prevent build-up of oropharyngeal bacterial biofilm and aids in infection prevention and VAP. The company’s breathing filter range has been independently tested, proving to be highly efficient in preventing the passage of bacteria and viruses.
