masimo logoSaint Mary’s Healthcare (Amsterdam, NY) last week announced it standardized to Masimo SET® Measure-Through Motion and Low Perfusion pulse oximetry.

The hospital also added the use of Masimo’s rainbow® SET Pulse CO-Oximetry for noninvasive patient monitoring of total [removed]hemoglobin[/removed] (SpHb®) and carboxyhemoglobin (SpCO®).

According to Masimo, standardizing allows clinicians to accurately monitor blood oxygen saturation in challenging conditions. The hospital will deploy SpHb in its emergency department for use in measuring hemoglobin and trending noninvasively and continuously.

“The true benefit of the standardized equipment is to the patient. The accuracy of the testing and its less invasive nature enable patients to receive care that is less painful and more timely,” said Peter Holtermann, director of Medical Imaging at Saint Mary’s.
