A CNN.com article documents the amazing story of Tammy Lewis, RRT, a respiratory therapist who now works in the same hospital NICU where she was born prematurely in 1985, at only 24 weeks gestation.

Once the smallest baby (1 lb, 4 oz) born in the state of Texas, Lewis beat the 5-10% survival odds that doctors gave her and 24 years later became an RT for McLane Children’s Medical Center Baylor Scott & White (Temple, Tex).

According to CNN, Lewis, now 34, works alongside some of the same doctors and nurses who treated her as an infant.

“This was the only hospital [job] I wanted to apply for knowing that I wanted to be [working] in this NICU,” Lewis told Good Morning America.
