A closer look as some of the latest spirometers and pulmonary function testing (PFT) diagnostic devices on the market from CosMed USA, FutureMed, Hans Rudolph, MGC Diagnostics, Micro Direct, Morgan Scientific, ndd Medical, Vacumed, and Vitalograph.
Cosmed USA Inc
Q-NRG is Cosmed’s lightweight, compact, affordable, highly accurate indirect calorimeter specifically designed for Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) measurement of spontaneously breathing subjects. The quick and simple technology provides individual and dynamic metabolic assessments based on a subject’s actual physical status, rather than estimations based on anthropometric data. (See image above.)
VacuMed’s Universal Ventilation (Gas Flow) Meter, or “UVM,” is a microprocessor based flow and volume measuring device intended for a variety of physiological studies, such as pulmonary function testing, exercise metabolic measurements, stress testing, and metabolic nutritional assessment. It is a lab device for precision electronic gas flow and volume measurements.
Vacumed’s Disposable Noseclips are used in any situation where nasal air flow needs to be eliminated. Plastic construction with foam pads at the nose for comfort and to prevent slipping. Available in standard blue and multi-color in quantities ranging from bags of 25 to bulk shipments of 1,000. XL size also available.
MGC Diagnostics Corp
MGC Diagnostics’ new Ascent cardiorespiratory diagnostic software for pulmonary function testing has been designed from the ground up to be the most advanced testing software platform available. The easy-to-use, powerful, and versatile software allows you to obtain the very best data possible and according to ATS/ERS standards, so that a diagnosis can be made confidently.
Vitalograph is introducing the 2021 Pneumotrac Spirometer and Spirotrac 6 software. The device allows you to connect instantly to your PC for highly accurate, robust, and stable Fleisch flow measuring technology and compliance with 2019 ATS/ERS spirometry guidelines. The complete system easily connects to most EMR system and comes with 5-year warranty and SpiroTutor training.
Hans Rudolph Inc
The Hans Rudolph Inc SmartLab Instrumentation System with Insight Software is a flexible system for measurement and analysis of respiratory signals in research applications. The main unit can accept up to four sensor modules for measuring flow from pneumotachs and airway or other pressures or a voltage input from an external device. Optional inputs include an oximeter, CO2 and O2 sensors, temperature and digital I/O. The PC software provides real time graphs and calculations of many common respiratory parameters. Data can be saved for analysis or replayed. Custom software modules can be developed for special applications.
Micro Direct Inc
The Micro I Spirometer by Micro Direct provides low cost precision spirometry measurements. The device measures the following parameters: FEV1, FVC, PEF, FEF25-75, FEV6, FEV1/FVC, FEV1/FEV6, and FEF25, which can be displayed with percent predicted and post bronchodilator comparisons. The portable device is suitable for remote testing for use in hospital outreach clinics, bedside screenings, and health fair screenings.
Cosmed USA Inc
The microQuark from Cosmed is a PC-based spirometer for lung function screening. The Omnia software (included) interface allows for easy and intuitive spirometry testing including: Forced/Slow Vital Capacity; Maximum Voluntary Ventilation; Respiratory Pattern; Bronchial Challenge Test (Pre-Post); and bronchodilator test.
Futuremed’s Discovery-2 is a diagnostic spirometer equipped with features that minimize risks of testing in an office or bedside. Testing is done with single-use antiviral and antibacterial filters, to reduce chance of cross-contamination within the device or in the examination space. All parts of Discovery-2, including the sensor, are easily disinfected, for optimal hygiene.
Morgan Scientific’s ComPas2 Enterprise PFT Software Suite empowers clinicians to test and interpret quickly, easily, and accurately. It offers customizable reports and interpretation options for clinician workflow, with updated reports and challenge testing from the latest American Thoracic Society guidelines, end-to-end encryption, and more.
ndd Medical Technologies Inc
The EasyOne Air portable spirometer from ndd Medical can be used either as a standalone device in an office setting or at the bedside. Results are calculated, displayed, and stored directly on the device. It also integrates with PC software. Using its leading, proven ultrasound TrueFlow technology, ndd Medical’s Easy on-PC precisely and accurately measures all essential spirometry tests.
