Restech (Respiratory Technology Corp), San Diego, has been issued US patent number 7,101,341 for real-time sensing of airway pH and other breath chemistries. The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) now affords protection of Restech’s Dx-pH measurement System™ technology for measuring the pH of acid reflux in the airway, also referred to as laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR).
Two further patents that protect the pH sensor technology used in the Dx-pH Measurement System have been allowed and are in the process of being issued by the USPTO. Restech has also filed for international patent protection.

“Restech’s success with domestic patent allowance and issuance should greatly influence the likelihood of international allowance,” said Restech’s patent attorney, Michael Klicpera, of Patent Technology Inc.

Currently, a total of 12 domestic and international patent applications have been filed. The patents cover the areas of pH sensor technology, respiratory monitoring and therapy, as well as specific novel technologies that enable the Dx-System to function in its unique environment.
