This month, members of the American Respiratory Alliance of Western Pennsylvania will be able to travel cross-country during the group’s yearly vacation, thanks in part to Philips-Respironics. Philips-Respironics is donating multiple EverGo portable oxygen concentrators to be utilized by participants of the Alliance’s 14th Annual Cruise for Respiratory Patients, September 13-22.

The event, called “Smooth Sailing” is an opportunity for respiratory patients to participate in a weeklong vacation cruise. This year, vacationers will fly from Pennsylvania and New Jersey to Seattle, Wash, where they will embark on a 9-day Alaskan cruise. The EverGo portable oxygen concentrators are allowing the vacationers to travel cross-country by plane for the first time in the trip’s 14 year history.

“Being able to lend the EverGo portable oxygen concentrator to patients for use on the plane and the cruise ship is exciting for us because it provides many of the oxygen patients with the opportunity to visit a place that might only have been a dream—Alaska,” says Carol Ann Kuczma, director, ARA programs and services. “Respironics has been the key partner in this year’s even and quite frankly, without the portable technology, this trip would not have been possible.”
