Philip Hopewell, M.D., a past president of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and a professor and associate dean at the University of California San Francisco, was named as an Ambassador in Research!America’s Paul G. Rogers Society for Global Health Research yesterday.

As an ambassador, Hopewell will work to increase the visibility of global health research and stress the importance of effective collaboration among the nation’s government, industry, academic, patient advocacy and philanthropic research sectors.

Hopewell, a recognized leader in TB care and research, was awarded with the World Lung Health Award at the ATS International conference this May.
