Nonin Medical Inc, Minneapolis, announced that it has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration to expand commercial labeling of its Onyx® Vantage 9590 professional fingertip pulse oximeter. The clearance allows the device to now be used on thumbs and toes, in addition to its previous indication for fingertips. The Onyx Vantage can be used on pediatric through adult patients whose digit diameters range from 0.3 inches to 1.0 inches.
Nonin Medical made the announcement at the [removed]American Thoracic Society 2012 Annual Meeting[/removed] in San Francisco this week.
The Onyx Vantage captures SpO2 and pulse rate measurements even in the presence of low perfusion and dark skin pigmentation, according to the company. The device also features Nonin Medical’s PureSAT™ pulse oximetry technology.
