A new Web site focused on lung disorders and oxygen therapy has been developed to serve as a resource and online community for its visitors. The site, www.OxygeNation.com, will assist those affected by respiratory diseases, specifically those requiring oxygen therapy.
OxygeNation offers educational tools which include disease information, types of equipment available to patients traveling with oxygen, and locations of support groups for those requiring supplemental oxygen.
Many patients and healthcare providers have recognized the lack of good information available to oxygen users. Paul Joslin, who has been on oxygen therapy for 2 years, is one such individual. “It can be extremely frustrating when I try to find the information I’m looking for, whether it’s about my disease or how to facilitate travel with oxygen.”
The first recommendation from the 6th Long Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT) Consensus Conference held last year in Denver stated that in order to assure quality LTOT patient care, it is recommended to provide comprehensive education for patients, physicians, families and respiratory professionals. Easy-to-use, understandable, and readily available educational resources should be developed to meet these needs.

The second phase of OxygeNation, scheduled for launch later this year, will introduce the community and forum component. The forum section will facilitate message boards and live question and answer segment. The O2 Crew will be a fully functioning community. Users will be able to make a personal profile and share it with other oxygen patients; therefore, being able to connect with others, get advice, send messages, or simply talk to one another.
