According to multiple news reports, Leonard Nimoy was rushed to UCLA Medical Center on Thursday for “severe chest pains.” Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Nimoy was taken to the hospital after a 911 call was placed on his behalf.

The 83-year old actor, best known for his role in “Star Trek,” revealed last year that he suffers from COPD.

On Monday, Nimoy’s twitter feed (@TheRealNimoy) featured a message to followers:

A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP

“LLAP” is an acronym for Nimoy’s signature “Spock” salutation: Live Long and Prosper.
