Exciting news was annouced today at the American Thoracic Society International Conference. John Walsh, president of the COPD Foundation told the press that the Foundation has partnered with WebMD to bring vital information about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.(COPD) to the public. It is easy to access by going to www.copdfoundation.org and clicking on the Web MD link. Users will be asked to complete a questionare asking about demogrpahics, symptoms, breathlessness, etc. Depending on the answers, users will be guided toward one of several pathways.

People with lung problems will receive a report, which they can print out and share with their physicians, possibly making their care better. RTs who are educators will welcome this additional resource for their patients.

This is a valuable resource for your patients and also for people who might not realize what their symptoms mean. WebMD sees thousands of visitors every day, so this is a great way to spread the worda bout COPD.
