The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and National Jewish Health, the nation’s leading respiratory hospital based in Denver, today announced the official opening of the Mount Sinai ? National Jewish Health Respiratory Institute at Mount Sinai’s campus in Manhattan.
The partnership creates a strong, integrated program for diagnosis and treatment of respiratory illness and lung disease, including asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung disease (ILD).
Pulmonologists collaborate with specialists in related disciplines, including cardiology, allergy, gastroenterology, rheumatology, ENT, and thoracic surgery, to provide team-based, patient-centered care. The Respiratory Institute also draws on Mount Sinai’s programs in personalized medicine, genomics, and data-driven clinical protocols to enhance the quality and outcomes of the respiratory disease practice.
Physicians at the Respiratory Institute first began seeing patients in January and are now accepting outside referrals and new patients. Respiratory Institute patients are currently being seen at two locations on East 98th and 102nd streets in Manhattan. A single permanent location will open in the fall.

I have been having shortness of breath for over a year now. I have had several different tests and seen my pulmonologist, my cardiologist, my regular doctor and now a pulmonary specialist. I do have a mild case of pulmonary hypertension, but the specialist does not believe that my shortness of breath could be the main cause of this. My doctor also felt that a second opinion could not hurt. I would like to set up an appointment as soon as possible.
