superDimension Inc, Minneapolis, debuted its iLogic System for early lung cancer detection and diagnosis at the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) annual meeting in San Diego and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Conference in Chicago. iLogic is the second-generation version of inReach™, the company’s electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB) minimally invasive tool. The core technology for iLogic extends to distant, previously inaccessible regions of the lungs, and enables physicians to locate small lung lesions for diagnostic testing.
According to the company, iLogic includes a new software platform with a simplified positioning and navigational system with enhanced visualization for the pulmonologist. A virtual 3-D bronchial tree made possible with the technology extends deep into the lungs to reach more than 17 airway generations. Additionally, the customized high-definition views available with iLogic offer physicians multiple navigation perspectives to improve detection and diagnosis. A 26-inch high-definition wide screen format allows six viewports to be displayed simultaneously, enabling the physician to evaluate positional data and optimize central and peripheral guidance within the lung.

The American Medical Association (AMA) issued a new Category I CPT® code for the use of inReach, superDimension’s ENB device, which will become effective January 1, 2010. The AMA also issued a new CPT I® code for the placement of fiducial radiosurgical markers via the ENB procedure.
"The establishment of a Category I CPT® code is a major milestone for superDimension. We believe the new CPT code will enable hospitals to more easily submit reimbursement for ENB procedures," said Sullivan in an announcement about the new codes.
