The Joint Commission Resources (JCR), a not-for-profit affiliate of The Joint Commission, is teaming up with the University of Minnesota School of Nursing to host a series of online audios to address the considerable problem of health care associated infections.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, each year nearly 2 million patients develop an infection while hospitalized for other health problems, and 90,000 of these cases lead to the death of the patient.

The education program, Foundations in Infection Control,comprises14 individual modules that cover essential infection control topics. Each installment features on-demand web presentations and provides an overview, exercises, application practice questions, and a question and answer session.

The program is targeted to infection control and prevention professionals; epidemiologists; and health care providers involved in the prevention, management, and treatment of infectious diseases.

Program dates include March 7, April 10, May 1, June 5, and July 10.
