The Pulsox-300i comes complete with 300 hours of nonvolatile data storage and 30 hours of battery life on one AAA battery, and provides connection to a PC via USB port for faster downloading and report printing.
Covidien, Boulder, Colo, introduces the Nellcor OxiMax® NeoMAX™ forehead sensor, the first forehead pulse oximetry sensor for infants and neonates (1 to 10 kg). The nonadhesive sensor is built into a breathable mesh cap that holds it in place. This one-piece design makes it easy to apply. The NeoMAX forehead sensor provides an alternative sensor site, freeing the hands and feet for other interventions. The forehead site offers other clinical advantages as well. When it is difficult to obtain a signal from the hands and feet in patients with peripheral vasoconstriction, the forehead can be an effective option. The forehead is also a preductal site alternative for infants with a patent ductus arteriosus. In addition, the forehead may be less prone to patient motion than hands or feet.
